Downtown Huntsville makes shopping fun with over 40 retail shops and restaurants and over 20 historic sites combining shopping, history and entertainment.
For the architectural buffs, Huntsville has the Gibbs-Powell Home. This was built by Thomas Gibbs, one of Huntsville’s earliest businessmen. The home is a noted Texas Archeological Landmark. The home is one of the last classical “Greek Revival” structures in history.
There are many sports and activities that Huntsville has to offer as well. For the golf enthusiasts, there a number of golf courses Waterwood Golf Course, located on Lake Livingston. We also have Huntsville State Park, a 2000 - acre recreational area that complements several city parks. The park borders the Sam Houston National Forest woods, home of the 105-mile Lone Star Hiking Trail. Huntsville State Park is a great for camping, hiking, biking, nature viewing and even offers fishing around scenic Lake Raven. You can also go scuba diving at the Blue Lagoon, where strategically submerged boats, planes and platforms make for a fun diving experience.
